A student was found dead in their dorm on Friday after reports were made to University Police.

A CSUSB student was found dead on Oct. 2 in Arrowhead Village after a report was made to the University Police.

Some students reported an odd smell in the hallways of Building Six in the village; at first, they thought a burst pipe caused the odor. The students noticed police presence on their floor later in the day.

“I guessed dead body, but I didn’t expect to be right,” said one student, Kennedi Sanders.

Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Matthew Smith and Director of Housing and Residential Education Jose Sanchez sent an email Friday night to student residents in Arrowhead Village to address the incident and provide resources to students who may be affected.

“There is no reason to believe there is any danger to our residential community,” Smith and Sanchez wrote. “Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, and all who are affected by this loss.”

Out of respect for the student and their family, CSUSB has not released identifying information. The Coyote Chronicle reached out to University Police, who are currently unable to give details about the death.

The Coyote Chronicle will update this story as more information becomes available.

Students needing support can contact support helplines or visit the in-person services over the weekend.

Delete this article. Inhumane and insensitive writing that makes a spectacle out of a passing of a fellow Yotie. Never touch an article again if you are to represent an entire campus. Shame on you, and may the family find peace in these times.

This is why you should check in on friends, floormates, or roommates that you haven't seen in some time. I send my love to their friends and family.
